Quicktime: does anyone use it?

Hi people:
I'm wondering who all uses Quicktime. The only reason I ask is because a certain CD my friend sent me, when I put it in, a thing comes up that says I need to have Quicktime installed for all of its features to work properly. It's a burnt CD, mind you, so I don't really know what that means. I can still play the tracks in Winamp, however, despite this interesting little "helpful" message. Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?
Thanks.

In a word, no. at the end of the day, its a bloated piece of software from apple, which installs components on your system which are virtually impossible to remove from the add/remove programs dialogue box should you ever wish to.
99% of the file formats quicktime can play can be handled by other programs. If not winamp then real player or its equivalent, real alternative. Even qt files, that is, movie files designed to be played in quick time, can be played in other applications if provided with the correct plugins.
So basically, steer clear of this pathetic attempt at a multimedia solution. Oh, do I sound like a have a thing against apple? So sorry. Just a shame they have poorly written software.

I don't think I like quicktime. I entered on a link and quicktime came up and said it needed to know my internet connection. the only one that came close that was listed was 56k or isdn. I don't have isdn, but there was no option just for 56 k. I thought I'd enter on the program and see what it was about, no help topics, either with f1 or the context menu. If you are going to give me a program, give me a program with help books and topics that I can read.

You're probably dealing with an enhanced CD that contains video. If you want access to this content, then download Quicktime Alternative which contains all the Quicktime codecs but uses the old Windows Media Player form Windows 98 as the interface, which is much more accessible than Quicktime. It's very likely that you'll have no reason to access the enhanced content on the CD, as it's probably photos and video clips. I think you should be more scared that you have software running off the CD telling you to install quicktime, and God knows what else.
